We collect information you provide directly: name, email address, company name, phone number, and payment information when you register or transact on RigBid. We also collect listing content including equipment descriptions, photos, and videos you upload. We automatically collect usage data including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and actions taken on the platform.
Sellers are required to submit a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) before listing equipment. Your ID document is encrypted in transit and stored using Cloudinary's authenticated delivery system — it is never accessible via a public URL. Only RigBid administrators can access your ID document, and only through a time-limited signed link that expires after 60 seconds. Your ID is used solely to verify your identity as a seller on RigBid. It is never sold, shared with third parties, used for marketing purposes, or used for any purpose other than identity verification. You may request deletion of your ID document at any time by contacting privacy@rigbid.auction. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days, subject to any legal hold obligations.
We use your information to operate the platform, process transactions, send transactional emails (bid notifications, auction results, listing approvals), provide customer support, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service, and improve our platform. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We share limited information with other users as necessary to facilitate transactions — for example, once a buyer completes payment for a listing, we share that buyer's name, email, and phone number (if provided) with the seller, and the seller's name, email, and phone number with the buyer, specifically so both parties can coordinate delivery or pickup of the equipment. This information is not shared before a sale completes. We share information with service providers including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Cloudinary (media storage), and Resend (email delivery). We may disclose information when required by law.
We use Clerk for user authentication. Clerk's privacy policy governs their handling of authentication data. We do not store passwords.
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. RigBid does not store full credit card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.
Photos and videos you upload are stored via Cloudinary and are publicly accessible as part of your listings. Do not upload images containing sensitive personal or business information.
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication (Clerk), session management, and platform functionality. We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data to ad networks. Authentication cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled without losing access to your account. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings. We do not currently use analytics tracking beyond basic server-side request logs.
We retain your account data while your account is active. Transaction records are retained for 7 years for legal and tax compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your account by contacting privacy@rigbid.auction. Transaction records, bid history, and legal attestations may be retained even after account deletion as required by law.
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information by contacting us at privacy@rigbid.auction. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (bid notifications, wire instructions, auction results) are required for platform operation and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act: (1) Right to Know — you may request disclosure of the personal information we collect, use, and share about you. (2) Right to Delete — you may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions. (3) Right to Opt-Out — we do not sell personal information. (4) Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@rigbid.auction with 'CCPA Request' in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days.
RigBid is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Platform from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Platform, you consent to this transfer. We process data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable U.S. law.
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Clerk, and access controls. Payment processing uses Stripe's PCI DSS-compliant infrastructure — RigBid never stores raw card numbers. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and will notify affected users in the event of a data breach as required by applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
